Today finds me guest blogging over at Mummy Diaries on the topic of Cougars. Do you get why some older women chase after much younger men? Is it a sexual thing or just about ego gratification? Or is it just a trend Samantha from Sex and the City started to make it look like it is great fun when it probably isn't all that apart from for a quick roll in the hay? Should the fantasy of making steamy love to a young buck stay inside the covers of romance novels or should older women act on these desires? Is there a double standard at work here, society frowns on older men with young girls because it's a bit perverted while frowning on older women with younger men because it's somehow indecent? So please do me a favour, pop over here and let's have a heated debate!!

That photo is TERRIFYING. Really scary. I think it is just as EEEW as seeing a man in his 50s with a trophy teenager.
I can quite understand some older women fancying younger men. God knows, older men can be pretty repulsive with their pot bellies and thickets of hair growing out of every orifice. Why settle for a rusty old jalopy when you can have a shiny sports car?
To be honest, as I approach 50, the thought of sleeping with older women becomes less appealing by the minute...

Harrumph. I tried to comment on your post (the one in the link) yesterday and again today but the darn thing lost both of them! I now need an older woman to soothe my (uni)brow...
For me, I always figured the attraction of the older woman was her confidence (cos that is always sexy) but having read your theory that maybe they go for young bucks out of neediness and a need to be reassured I'm not too sure. To be honest, if two consenting adults are having fun together I don't think an age gap is that important.
I usually see cougars with Ed Hardy type guys -it's an appropriate combo.
Working with students that are late teens/early twenties are all I need to prevent me being a cougar. Ugh!

Well if A) the best sex organ is the brain and B) women mature before men....
Then it kinda makes sense for men to be older or equivalent in age to their women.... and makes it hard to imagine what a 45 yr-old woman would want with a 25 yr-old bloke besides the sex.
All power to them if it's just a casual thing. "Keep your mouth shut and your cock hard, and we'll get along fine!" I can imagine them thinking.
